A Little Less Talk

Sometimes, on good days, I think about stuff. On great days, I write.

I've been getting some great feedback from The Dreamwalker, both with my test audience and the few who have downloaded it from my free promo. And i'm pretty proud of it. It took a lot of rewriting to get to this point, and though I'm sure there are some errors with it, I think it is probably as good as I could expect it to be.

When you try to rewrite a book that you wrote when you were 17, you discover a lot about yourself. I was a hopeful, sweet girl at that age and my writing reflected that. Kate was a sweet girl when this story started, and by the end of the original book she hadn't changed much. At 17, I didn't know how to grow her into something else because I hadn't become anything else. As an adult rewriting the story, I have the benefit of another 17 years of mistakes, successes, and challenges to lean on while making changes to this book, and I really feel like those things helped make this much stronger than it was before.

I've started rewriting the next book. Even though it was written more recently and shouldn't require as many changes, the significant changes in the first one have altered the story in such a way that I had to completely change the first few chapters to get to usable material. As much as I love the new story and am excited for it to be released, I'm also worn out by it and glad it will be finished so I can move on to something new. I have a folder full of stories waiting to be written, and all they need is time and attention.
